Suppose just for a moment that we are all living in a false reality, an illusion that has been generated by a collective misconception, very much like a program that’s running on a holodeck on one of the ships on Star Trek. This false reality is the creation of the human mind out of touch with our true nature as timeless, divine beings. Everything that you witness in the world around you that constricts or annihilates the ongoing creativity and diversity of Life is the mind’s illusion taking on manifested form.
Let’s call this false reality the emperor’s world. The emperor’s world constructs systems that benefit a small minority by dominating, conquering or enslaving others. In the emperor’s world, nature is understood as a commodity to be exploited, and the goal of life is to accumulate power and wealth.
The misconception at the root of this false reality — the operating system, if you will, running beneath the emperor’s world program — is that there exists in this Universe something called “separateness”: “separateness” between people, “separateness” between humans and other species, between humans and the Earth, “separateness” between the physical dimension and the non-physical.
The operating system and the false reality program it is running are fed and sustained by the energies of hatred, arrogance, violence, enemy-making, greed, and anything else that arises out of the concept of “separateness”. Anytime we express these energies within ourselves, our relationships, or our social contexts — even if we believe we are doing so in the interest of justice — we are actually feeding and helping sustain the operating system that runs the emperor’s world program.
Now suppose just for a moment that someone turned off the power to the program and the false reality dropped away. What you would suddenly see is the interconnectedness of all things; the beauty, intricacy and goodness at the heart of the Universe; your own eternal nature and oneness with All-That-Is; and even the eternal and divine nature of people you previously thought of as “enemies”. You would then be a person Re-Minded.
There is a traditional religious word that has taken on very negative connotations because it has been used in unhelpful ways. The word is “repentance”, but in it’s original meaning it meant precisely this: to change one’s mind, change one’s perception, turn away from that which is false and toward that which is real. It is why spiritual movements have always posed the biggest threat to the emperor’s world program, because they go to the root of the illusions upon which that program runs.
There are now many people camping out in many places across this county calling for the emperor’s world systems to change, and there is even talk of revolution. But something much more perilous to the emperor’s world program than revolution would be if people stepped out of the false reality entirely, no longer keeping the illusion alive with the energies of hatred, revenge, violence and enemy-making, but expressing the energies of oneness instead.
If We the People (which of course includes you) were to Occupy the New Mind which doesn’t buy into the illusion of “separateness”, the New Mind which sees, honors and delights in the fundamental oneness and sacredness of all things, the emperor’s world program would cease in an instant.
